Hakan Fidan said Israel is being described by many as “the elephant in the room” due to its policies in the region.
1news.media reports that Fidan made the remarks during a joint press conference in Doha with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
“We see that at a time when everyone is coming together to talk about peace, diplomacy, and dialogue, Israel is pursuing a policy of deepening all problems through violence and expansionism. This has now become not only a regional issue, but a global security issue,” Fidan said.
The Turkish foreign minister also stressed that the crisis in the Gulf should not overshadow the situation in Gaza, adding that Israeli expansionism remains a primary threat to regional stability and security.
Fidan noted that the European Union had already taken sanctions-related decisions against Israel and said he expects global public opinion to react more strongly against what he described as Israel’s expansionist policies in the coming period.
