Canada supports developments in Venezuela – Carney

One of the first steps taken by Canada’s new government in March 2025 was to impose additional sanctions on the oppressive and criminal regime of Nicolás Maduro.

1news.media reports that this was written by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his X page.

“Canada has not recognized the illegitimate Maduro regime since it stole the 2018 elections. For this reason, the Canadian government welcomes an opportunity for freedom, democracy, peace, and prosperity for the people of Venezuela.

We support a peaceful, negotiated, and Venezuelan-led transition process that respects the democratic will of the Venezuelan people,” he added.

It should be noted that yesterday the U.S. military struck Caracas and captured President Maduro and his wife, taking them to the United States.
