Pope Leo XIV visits Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Turkiye

During his visit to Turkiye, Pope Leo XIV visited the Sultan Ahmed Mosque and the Mor Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church located in Yeşilköy (Yeshilkoy).

1news.media reports that during the visit, Leo XIV was briefed on the history and architecture of the mosque.

The Pope noted that this was his first visit to the mosque and that Sultan Ahmed Mosque is the first mosque he has visited since his appointment.

Leo XIV also held meetings with the leaders of the Mor Ephrem Syriac Orthodox Church and Christian communities in Yeşilköy.
