A new monument will be erected at the site of the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan.

1news.media reports that this was told by Joshgun Nasibli, the brother of National Hero Hokume Aliyeva, who died in the plane crash.

"We were presented with three examples of the monument to be erected by the Embassy of our country in Kazakhstan. One of them will be erected. The monument complex will be erected approximately on the eve of the anniversary of the incident."

Recall that on December 25, 2024, the Embraer 190 passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines, which was performing the Baku-Grozny flight, was diverted to the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, after losing control due to external physical and technical interference in the airspace of the Russian Federation. Despite the loss of life and injuries, the plane made an emergency landing thanks to the high professionalism, bravery, and courage of the pilots and flight attendants. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died and 29 survived.
