Ilham Aliyev met with Shehbaz Sharif

On November 7, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev had a limited meeting with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the head of state expressed his gratitude to Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for participating in the military parade to be held in Baku tomorrow on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the glorious Victory in the Patriotic War, evaluating it as an example of brotherhood between our countries.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to the parade, the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his satisfaction with participating here. The guest congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and our people on the fifth anniversary of our magnificent Victory, and noted that the capital, Islamabad, was decorated with the tricolor flag of our country in honor of the Victory of Azerbaijan.

The head of state expressed his gratitude for the congratulations.

During the conversation, it was reported that the fraternal relations between our countries covering various fields have further developed, and the mutual support provided by Azerbaijan and Pakistan to each other in international organizations was touched upon. The increase in bilateral trade turnover was noted with satisfaction, and views were exchanged on the further expansion of our economic and trade relations in accordance with the spirit of our political relations. It was noted that the application of preferential trade tariffs on rice and 15 other products imported by Azerbaijan from Pakistan is an important factor in the development of economic and trade relations.

It was recalled that the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was successfully held in the first half of this year, and issues of cooperation in the military and military-technical fields were discussed.

An agreement was reached on the imminent mutual visits of government delegations and representatives of business circles.

Views were exchanged on the participation of Pakistani companies in the reconstruction and construction work carried out in our liberated territories.

The prospects of our bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting.
