Special representative: Currently, around 15,000 people live in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts

“Currently, around 15,000 people live in the city of Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts. These individuals include former internally displaced persons who have returned to their ancestral lands, as well as employees of public and private institutions operating in these areas and their family members. A part of the former IDPs have been relocated to the villages of Sugovushan, Hasanriz, and Talish in the Aghdara district, as well as to the city of Khojaly and the villages of Ballica, Tazabina, and Khanyurdu in the Khojaly district, bringing life back to these communities,” said Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the city of Khankendi and Aghdara, and Khojaly districts, during the opening ceremony of the 6th Summer Camp of Azerbaijani Diaspora Youth held in the city of Khankendi.

“According to the relocation plan for 2025, reconstruction and restoration efforts will be carried out in 18 residential areas—including 11 villages in the Khojaly district and 7 villages in the Aghdara district to enable the resettlement of the population. Relevant efforts have already begun for population resettlement in these villages. As a result, nearly 6,400 former IDPs have been successfully resettled in the mentioned villages. Currently, relocation plans for the following years regarding these and other residential areas are being prepared, and necessary work is in progress on this track,” he added.
