Azerbaijani wrestler reaches world final in Athens

An Azerbaijani wrestler reached the final of the U-17 World Championship held in the Greek capital, Athens.

1news.media reports that Huseyn Ismayilov (65 kg) qualified for the decisive stage of the World Cup.

He first defeated Canadian Liam Gorton, 4:2.

The graduate of the Ganja wrestling school gave Greek Konstantinos Mikhailidis no chance in the 1/8 finals – 11:0. Ismayilov then knocked out Kyrgyz Adisbek Altynbekov with difficulty – 2:1. Huseyn was stronger than Kazakh Yerali Askerbek in the semifinals – 3:1. The national member will wrestle with American Arseniy Kikinyov in the final tomorrow.

Ravan Hasanzadeh (48 kg) knocked out Belarusian Makar Markovich ahead of schedule – 12:0. Our compatriot also emerged victorious from a tense match with Uzbek Jahangir Tulkunov – 4:2. Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) in his debut eliminated Belarusian Mikita Tkachik from the fight ahead of schedule – 10:0. Our wrestler also showed his strength to American Alexander Taylor – 7:6.
