Turkish Deputy Minister: Projects in Nakhchivan and Karabakh will boost economies of both brotherly nations

“Today, nearly 50 percent of Türkiye’s electricity demand is met through renewable energy sources, and efforts are ongoing to further increase this share,” said Abdullah Tancan, Türkiye’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, as he addressed the International Geology and Mining Forum in the city of Nakhchivan.

Tancan noted that Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Nakhchivan are located within the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt—one of the world’s major metallogenic zones, rich in mineral resources. He emphasized that recent exploration activities have led to the discovery of new mineral deposits in the region.

“Perhaps the most significant development in this process will be the upcoming project in Nakhchivan,” he said. “The projects currently being implemented in both Nakhchivan and Karabakh are particularly important for identifying strategic mineral resources that will benefit the economies of our two brotherly countries.”
