Media forum gets underway in Baku
A media forum titled “The Media of the Future: In the Footsteps of ‘Akinchi” is underway in Baku, jointly organized by Azerconnect Group and the Media Development Agency, to mark the 150th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press and support young journalists.
The forum aims to support the professional development of young journalists, facilitate meetings and exchanges with experienced media professionals, and enhance their practical knowledge of digital technologies and AI applications.
The event brought together representatives of the public and private sectors, leading national media outlets, higher education institutions, as well as students specializing in journalism and communications.
In his opening speech, Emil Masimov, CEO of Azerconnect Group, emphasized the media’s contribution to protecting national interests during critical moments in the country’s history. He noted that the concept of media is being reshaped by digital technologies and new communication tools, with the younger generation playing a decisive role in this transformation.
Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, stated that Azerbaijan provides a favorable and supportive environment for young people to express themselves and realize their potential. He expressed confidence that talented youth will actively apply their knowledge and skills in the media field, ultimately benefiting Azerbaijani journalism and strengthening public opinion as a whole.
Rashad Majid, Chairman of the Press Council, reflected on the rich historical development of Azerbaijan’s national press, which began with the newspaper “Akinchi”. He highlighted that this historical legacy continues to shape the core mission of the media and plays a vital role in nurturing the new generation of journalists.
