Haber Global TV channel: Are the Yekaterinburg events a coincidence or part of Russia’s chauvinistic policy?
The violent incident in Yekaterinburg, which resulted in the deaths of two Azerbaijanis and injuries to several others, is an overt crime against humanity. The events in Russia’s Sverdlovsk oblast are undoubtedly not a mere coincidence and must be given a legal assessment, as also emphasized in the response from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
These remarks were made by Dilara Sayan, a host on Türkiye’s Haber Global TV channel. Speaking to an audience of millions, she highlighted the mass detentions, pressures, and discrimination faced by foreigners, including Azerbaijanis and other diaspora members, in Russia.
“The systematic pressures and unlawful actions in Russia have finally exhausted the patience of the Azerbaijani people,” Sayan stressed, recalling the Russian authorities’ response to the shooting down of an AZAL airline plane in December 2024.
Addressing the events, the presenter posed a critical question:
“What is the reason behind the pressures and attacks against Azerbaijanis? Are these incidents merely a coincidence, or are they part of a unified state policy of chauvinism in Russia?”
The channel expressed concern that the brutality faced by the Safarov family in Yekaterinburg could potentially be repeated in other regions of Russia.
