Pezeshkian calls for dialogue with public amid deadly unrest

Respect for the people and listening to their demands are fundamental principles of governance.

1news.media reports, citing Iran Online, that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at a Cabinet meeting.

He noted that engagement with society must be based on respect, dialogue, and patience, and that the Interior Ministry is obliged to exercise full and comprehensive oversight in this regard.

Undoubtedly, direct interaction with the public—listening to their concerns, demands, and criticisms, and working to influence public opinion—plays a crucial role in mitigating psychological and social pressures.

Pezeshkian also stressed that the use of force against protesters will not yield positive results, stating that society cannot be convinced or calmed through coercive measures and improper methods.

It should be noted that large-scale protests have erupted in Iran following the sharp recent depreciation of the national currency against the U.S. dollar.

Clashes have occurred between protesters and security forces, and reports indicate that 19 people have been killed so far.
