Meeting held in Iğdır with families of martyrs and veterans from Azerbaijan and Türkiye
On September 16, a meeting titled "United in the Spirit of Victory" was held in Türkiye's Iğdır province. The event was attended by family members and relatives of martyrs from Azerbaijan and Türkiye, as well as a group of veterans.
The organization of the meeting was supported by the Iğdır-Azerbaijan Language, History and Culture Solidarity Preservation and Support Association, the Iğdır Azerbaijan House, the Türkiye War Disabled, Veterans and Martyrs Society, and the "Nakhchivan Martyrs' Families" Public Union. The event took place at the building of the Iğdır Culture and Tourism Department.
Within the program, a film was screened highlighting the struggle for Azerbaijan's liberation from occupation, and prayers were recited in memory of the martyrs.
Türkiye's Consul General to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Asip Kaya, spoke about the struggles of the Azerbaijani and Turkish peoples for independence and territorial integrity, as well as the fraternal and supportive relations between the two brotherly countries.
Azerbaijan's Consul General in Kars, Zamin Aliyev, emphasized the significance of the historic Victory achieved by Azerbaijan in the 44-day Patriotic War. He noted that "the heroism of the participants in the 44-day war and the 2023 anti-terror measures has been inscribed in the history of the Azerbaijani state with golden letters." According to the diplomat, the territories liberated from occupation have become a turning point in the history of the Turkic world and have provided a major impetus for strengthening the unity of Turkic states. "The Azerbaijani people demonstrated to the whole world that no force can resist the struggle for unity and justice," he added. The Consul General also highlighted that the Victory won in the Patriotic War has created a foundation for further deepening cooperation between Baku and Ankara.
During the event, family members of martyrs from Azerbaijan and Türkiye, along with veterans, visited one of Iğdır's symbols—the museum—and the monument in the form of five raised swords erected in memory of the peaceful residents who fell victim to the crimes of Armenian armed groups in Eastern Anatolia between 1915 and 2015.
At the conclusion, saplings were planted in the courtyard of Iğdır Social Sciences High School in memory of the heroes of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
