Energy minister: Daily capacity of pipelines delivering Azerbaijani gas to Syria is 6 million cubic meters

Even though the daily capacity of the pipelines transporting Azerbaijani gas to Syria is 6 million cubic meters, only 3.4 million cubic meters of gas are planned to be transported at the initial stage, Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed Al-Bashir told journalists following the ceremony marking the launch of Azerbaijani natural gas supplies to Syria via Türkiye.

“I would like to express gratitude to our Azerbaijani brothers for this support. This agreement was reached following the recent meeting between the two countries' leaders. The project's direct purpose is to serve the welfare of the Syrian people and ensure a continuous supply of electricity. This project is not the last, but the first, and more joint projects are planned. We also held earlier discussions on plans with the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Mikayil Jabbarov. Mutual visits of technical groups will be organized. We discussed Azerbaijan's programs and projects related to investment in Syria,” the Syrian Energy Minister added.
